Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Laser Quote, operated by [Legal entity name / ABN] ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you use the Laser Quote website, calculator, and dashboard (the "Services"). We're committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Free Tier — Nothing Is Collected

If you only use the free calculator, we don't collect anything. Your Settings and Machine Profiles are stored in your browser only and never leave your device.

2. Information We Collect (Plus & Premium)

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Account information — your email address and password, handled by our authentication provider, Supabase (we never see or store your raw password)
  • Business information — your business name, and optionally a logo and brand color
  • Settings & Machine Profiles — the rates and machine numbers you enter to calculate quotes
  • Customer records (if you use this feature) — the name, email, phone, and notes you choose to save about your own customers
  • Quotes — job details and computed prices you save or send
  • Billing information — handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store your card details
  • Technical data — your IP address, browser type, and access timestamps, collected automatically as a standard part of operating a web service

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the Service — calculating and saving your quotes, syncing your data across devices
  • To send quote emails to your customers on your behalf, when you choose to send one
  • To process subscription payments and manage your account
  • To respond to support requests
  • To detect and prevent unauthorized access, abuse, and fraudulent activity
  • To improve and maintain the Service

We don't sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Cookies

We use only essential cookies, required for authentication and session management — these can't be disabled without breaking core functionality. We don't use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we don't serve ads within the Service.

5. Third-Party Service Providers

We share information with the following providers, only as needed to run the Service:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
  • Stripe — payment processing for Plus/Premium subscriptions
  • Resend — sending quote and account emails
  • Cloud hosting & content delivery providers — to run and serve the Service itself

Each processes data under their own privacy policy and security practices. We may also disclose personal information where required by law, regulation, legal process, or an enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Laser Quote, our users, or the public.

Some of these providers operate infrastructure outside Australia. Where personal information is transferred overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it's handled consistently with the APPs.

6. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained for the duration of your subscription and for 12 months after cancellation, to allow for account reactivation
  • Quotes, customer records, and business data are retained for the duration of your subscription; if you delete your account, they're permanently deleted within 90 days
  • Payment records are retained as required by Australian tax law — generally 5 years from the date of the transaction

7. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the APPs, you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you — we'll respond within 30 days
  • Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information (most account details can be updated directly in your Laser Quote settings)
  • Delete your personal information, where we're not required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security purposes
  • Export your business data — Premium's CSV export covers quotes and customers directly within the dashboard

To exercise any of these rights, get in touch. If you believe we've breached the APPs, you can lodge a complaint with us the same way; if you're not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

8. Data Security

All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL. Authentication is managed via Supabase, with passwords hashed and never stored in plain text. Your account's data is isolated from every other account at the database level (row-level security), so one shop's quotes and customer records are never visible to another. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to keep your data safe.

9. Children's Privacy

Laser Quote isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date.
